Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 117 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos.
The arrests were made in the early hours of Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Regional Hotel, Iyana-Ishasi, following verified intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.
According to EFCC officials, the operation was meticulously planned and executed based on credible intelligence reports. The suspects were apprehended in possession of various incriminating items, including mobile phones, laptop computers, and four cars.
“The EFCC remains committed to combating internet fraud and will continue to act swiftly on credible intelligence to rid the society of economic and financial crimes,” said a spokesperson for the commission
The suspects are currently being held in custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
