19-Year-Old Arrested in Lagos After Failed Attempt to Snatch Bike from Undercover Officers

Lagos State Police have announced plans to prosecute Akinjobi Wahab for attempting to rob a team of police officers, who were on patrol in plain clothes, of their motorcycle.

In a statement on Sunday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that the 19-year-old suspect was apprehended on Acme Road in Ikeja.

According to Hundeyin, the officers, disguised in plain clothes, were patrolling when the suspect, armed with a machete, attempted to snatch their patrol bike.

He stated, “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, patrolling in plain clothes on a motorcycle, apprehended robbery suspect Akinjobi Wahab, aged 19, in the act of trying to snatch their motorcycle at around 4 am on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, accompanied by four others who fled the scene.

“This arrest follows the implementation of regular foot and vehicular patrols in the area by Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in response to repeated reports of early morning robberies around Agidingbi, Ikeja.”

Hundeyin added that upon completion of the investigation, the suspect would be brought before the court.
