Nollywood is mourning the loss of actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope, following a tragic boat accident. Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon during a film production boat trip.
Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, confirmed the heartbreaking news to Channels Television, stating that Junior Pope’s remains have been taken to the morgue. Tragically, one crew member’s body has been recovered, while three others remain missing, as the boat carrying five individuals capsized after colliding with another vessel in the River Niger area of Anambra State.
Just hours before the accident, Junior Pope shared a video of himself in a speedboat without a life jacket, expressing concerns about the risks involved in their work: “See me lamenting the risk we take to entertain you, crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…who does that?”
The Nollywood community has begun sharing heartfelt condolences on social media platforms to honor the memory of the late actor.
