The Divisional Police Officer of Agbarho Police Station in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, was attacked and killed late Sunday night.
The Delta Police Command confirmed the development to The Nation on Monday morning.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, stated: “It is true, the Agbarho DPO was killed, and the Orerokpe DPO was wounded. It was an ambush.”
The Agbarho DPO had reportedly just assumed his post a few days earlier.

The Orerokpe DPO was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Local residents who spoke to The Nation on Monday recounted the terrifying sound of heavy gunfire that kept them awake through the night.
