A devastating explosion occurred today at a NipCo Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling station in Benin City, Nigeria, leaving multiple people injured.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident took place while a CNG-propelled car was being refuelled. The blast completely destroyed the rear end of the vehicle, causing widespread panic.
Several injured individuals were rushed to the hospital immediately after the explosion. However, two people, who initially escaped evacuation efforts, were later seen walking around with visible injuries, prompting concerned onlookers to urge them to seek medical attention.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the gas tank, allegedly fabricated by a local welder, may have been the cause of the explosion. Witnesses pointed to the blown-out tank as evidence of the faulty fabrication.
“It’s a miracle nobody was killed,” said an eyewitness. “The sound was deafening, and the impact was massive.”
Authorities have yet to release an official statement. The NipCo filling station has been cordoned off as investigators assess the damage.
This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
