An astute Divisional Police Officer successfully thwarted a suspected rival cult group to apprehend the killers of “Mosquito.”

Six days ago, a concerned citizen made a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer in IGBEBA, reporting that rival cults were clashing in Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. During the conflict, a man known as “Mosquito” was shot, attacked with a machete, and had his left hand severed and taken by his killers.

Following previous reports, today, August 17, 2024, one of the cultists involved in “Mosquito’s” murder was apprehended at around 0030 hours in a hideout in Isiwo, Ijebu, and is currently undergoing preliminary police investigation at the IGBEBA Division.

Thanks to credible information provided by the public, the police were able to track the fleeing suspects to their hideout.

Upon receiving this intelligence, a team of detectives swiftly mobilized and moved to the location, where they apprehended one suspect—Adekunle Adebajo, aka Kunle Polly, a 34-year-old resident of Itun Oke Ijebu, Isiwo.

During interrogation, Kunle Polly admitted to being a member of the Eiye confraternity, leading to a search of his residence. The search resulted in the recovery of a Beretta pistol with six live rounds, two UTC axes, and charms.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover the pattern behind the severing of their victims’ left hands and to arrest other criminals who escaped the hideout.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc, has assured the Isiwo Ijebu, Ijagun, and Ijebu Ode communities that the era of cultism in Ogun State is coming to an end and that the remaining suspects will be brought to justice for their crimes.
