Bernardo Silva’s late goal sealed a 1-0 victory for Manchester City over Chelsea at Wembley, moving Pep Guardiola’s side closer to another FA Cup triumph.
The pre-match build-up was overshadowed by the absence of star striker Erling Haaland, who missed the match due to injury. However, his absence did not deter Manchester City from securing their spot in the final.
Chelsea began the match with energy, as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer made threatening runs on the counter-attack. City, however, soon found their rhythm, creating their first major opportunity when Kevin de Bruyne’s pass set up Phil Foden, only for Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic to thwart him.
Jackson had chances to break the deadlock for Chelsea, but failed to convert. City, on the other hand, capitalized on their chance when De Bruyne’s cross was redirected by Silva and deflected off Marc Cucurella into the net.
Chelsea had opportunities to equalize, including a controversial penalty claim after Jack Grealish’s apparent handball in the box, but the VAR review denied their appeal. City maintained control in the closing stages, despite Chelsea’s attempts to find an equalizer.
With this win, Manchester City advances to the FA Cup final, where they will face either Manchester United or Coventry. The victory keeps Pep Guardiola’s ambitions alive for further success in the season.
