Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has heightened the ongoing turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by publicly challenging the suspended acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, to “switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Melaye held nothing back in his criticism, branding Damagum as an “agent of destruction.”
He argued that Damagum’s leadership had caused enough harm to the PDP, urging him to step aside.
In a post on X, Melaye wrote, “APC agent of destruction, enough is enough, Damagum. Join APC peacefully.”
Melaye further drove his point home with a sharp farewell: “Goodbye, Damagum, the damage you’ve done is sufficient.”
Melaye’s comments come amid ongoing internal unrest within the PDP.
A faction of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) recently suspended Damagum, along with several key officials, including national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, national publicity secretary Debo Ologunagba, and national legal adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade.
However, the situation took a turn when the Abuja Federal High Court issued a ruling that placed a restraining order on the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), preventing them from ousting Damagum.
The court’s decision affirms Damagum as the acting national chairman until the party’s national convention in December of next year.
