Four Dead, Eight Injured in Ogun Highway Accident

Four individuals were burnt to death and eight others critically injured in a car crash on the RCC, Ogbere, Ore-Ijebu Ode expressway.

 

 

The accident, involving a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XA690AKU, occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

 

 

According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun Sector Command, the crash involved 18 people in total.

 

 

Okpe attributed the incident to driver fatigue and loss of vehicle control.

 

 

She noted, “Eighteen individuals were involved, including eight males and ten females. One male and three females died in the accident. Four males and four females sustained injuries and were burned, while others escaped unharmed.”

 

 

The injured were transported to Ijebu-Ode State Hospital for treatment, and the deceased were taken to the hospital mortuary.

 

 

Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin advised drivers to rest adequately before long journeys and to take 15 to 30-minute breaks after every four hours of driving.
