Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has fulfilled his promise to support agricultural innovation in the state by distributing a total of N20 million to participants of the soil-less farming initiative.
The governor had previously pledged the amount during a visit to a local farm where 1,000 trainees were undergoing training in hydroponics and other modern farming techniques.
Farmer Samson Ogbole, a prominent advocate for sustainable agriculture, confirmed on his official Twitter handle that the trainees received the cheque and the funds were distributed to each participant. According to Ogbole, Cohort 7 trainees received N20,000 each as part of the governor’s initiative to promote sustainable farming practices.
The event was attended by over 170 participants from the Enterprise for Seniors in Agriculture (ESiA) program, a free training initiative for individuals aged 30 and above.
These witnesses were present to oversee the distribution of funds and support the governor’s ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural productivity in Ogun State.
The soil-less farming initiative, which focuses on hydroponic techniques that allow crops to grow without soil, is part of the state government’s broader strategy to modernize agriculture, boost food production, and ensure sustainable development.
The N20 million grant aims to provide the necessary resources for farmers to adopt these innovative practices, thereby improving crop yields and reducing environmental impact.
Governor Abiodun reiterated his commitment to supporting agricultural initiatives that empower local farmers and promote sustainable practices. “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to agricultural innovation and food security in Ogun State,” he stated.
The fulfillment of the N20 million promise has been widely welcomed by the agricultural community, who view it as a significant step towards achieving a more sustainable and productive agricultural sector in the state.
