Governor Siminalayi Fubara will administer the oath to newly elected local government chairmen today, following their successful election on Saturday, as confirmed by Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government in a statement.
This comes after the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results, with the Action Peoples Party (APP) winning 22 of 23 local government areas.
The statement reads:
“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, will today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, inaugurate the newly elected Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, at 4pm.”
The newly elected Chairmen, along with one guest each, are expected to arrive by 3:30pm.
