Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of three second-class Emirs for the Rano, Gaya, and Karaye Emirates. This decision was announced on July 16, 2024, by Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor’s spokesperson.
The newly appointed Emirs are:
1. Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, Emir of Karaye, previously the District Head of Rogo.
2. Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, Emir of Rano, previously the District Head of Bunkure.
3. Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, Emir of Gaya, previously the Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate.
Governor Yusuf enjoined the new Emirs to uphold the culture, peace, and unity of their respective emirates.
The appointments are with immediate effect, following the Governor’s recent signing into law of the three second-class emirates.
The new emirates serve specific local government areas: Rano covers Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure; Gaya covers Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu; Karaye covers Karaye and Rogo.
