The Comptroller-General of Immigration, CGI, Kemi Nandap, has issued a directive for all personnel stationed at the Nigeria-Niger Republic border to immediately resume their duties.
This directive comes in the wake of the reopening of the borders between the two nations, following the decision of ECOWAS. The closure had been imposed as part of sanctions on Niger Republic after a coup displaced President Mahmed Bazoum.
President Bola Tinubu’s decision to reopen the borders prompted the directive from the Immigration boss, who instructed all Comptrollers at States and Border Commands along the border to lift all restrictions on human movement.
CGI Nandap affirmed the Service’s commitment to facilitating safe and orderly border crossings while maintaining the integrity and security of Nigeria’s borders.
