The Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Ayo Olorunfemi, has accused a former national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, of being behind the crisis in the LP.Oshiomhole, currently serving as a senator, previously held the position of national chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The NLC and the LP leadership have clashed over the ownership of the party. In an interview with a national newspaper, Olorunfemi alleged that Oshiomhole’s associates instigated a crisis between the NLC and the LP.
“This party emerged when former Governor Mimiko won elections twice and used it to improve the lives of the people of Ondo State. He left because Adams Oshiomhole always seeks to control the NLC’s soul.
Now, we will not allow Oshiomhole to take over the party,” Olorunfemi stated. When asked if he was certain Oshiomhole was behind the LP crisis, Olorunfemi replied, “He is not openly involved, but we can see his influence everywhere.
The individuals fueling this crisis are his associates. We know his tactics and what he has done in the past.””We witnessed how he ousted former Governor Mimiko and others from the party.
We warned against allowing Oshiomhole free rein. We want Mimiko back in our party, and we will bring him back after resolving this conflict,” Olorunfemi added.
