The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has lauded the Kogi State Government for its remarkable performance in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare. The commendation came during a comprehensive tour of several projects initiated and completed under the tenure of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
During the tour, which took place in Lokoja, the President of the NGE, Eze Anaba, expressed deep satisfaction with the infrastructure developments witnessed firsthand. He highlighted the Reference Hospital in Okene as a significant milestone that could potentially alleviate the burden of medical tourism in Nigeria, thereby saving the nation substantial funds.
Anaba emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, urging the current administration under Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo to build upon the foundation laid by its predecessor. He stressed the need for sustained efforts to ensure that the state’s progress continues unabated.
The NGE President commended the Kogi State Government for its commitment to improving the lives of citizens through strategic investments in critical sectors. He urged Nigerians to take advantage of the state’s healthcare facilities, citing the potential to reduce the country’s expenditure on medical tourism significantly.
In response, the Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, and his Health counterpart, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez, expressed gratitude to the editors for their visit and encouraged them to provide accurate and objective reporting on the state’s achievements.
The visit by the Nigerian Guild of Editors underscores the importance of transparent governance and effective communication in fostering development and accountability at the state level.
