The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have sealed the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCo) offices in Bauchi.
This action comes after alleged non-compliance with letters urging electricity operators to lower costs and introduce consumer bands in the state.
Union members gathered at JEDCo’s main office, sealing the gate and barring entry. The enforcement extended to NERC and TCN offices in Bauchi.
During the protest, union members carried placards with messages like “NLC/TUC Rejects Exploitation” and “Equal Power Supply for All”.
Bauchi State NLC Chairperson, Comrade Dauda Shuaibu, stated that letters were sent demanding a tariff reversal, and failure to comply led to the shutdown.
“We will ensure all offices are closed. We demand an immediate tariff reversal from the Federal Government,” he declared.
