Thousands of youths from 19 Northern states gathered at the National Assembly in Abuja for a peaceful rally in support of Senator Barau Jibrin, APC-Kano North, and Deputy Senate President.

The rally was organized to counter criticism of the Senate’s handling of the Tax Reform Bills.

Led by former NANS President, Comrade Tijjani Kabiru Mohammed, the youths praised Barau as the “Sardauna of our time” and carried banners with slogans like “Senator Barau: A pro-people lawmaker” and “Stop attacking Senator Barau.”

The demonstration came after Senator Barau called for experts, including Taiwo Oyedele, Chair of the Presidential Committee on Tax Reform, to brief senators and the public on the proposed tax reforms during plenary sessions.

Kabiru Mohammed clarified that Senator Barau neither opposed nor supported the bills outright but emphasized raising public awareness. Participants also highlighted Barau’s contributions, such as sponsoring the North West Development Commission Bill, showcasing his commitment to regional development.
