A High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted participants of the #FearlessInOctober protests in the state to four locations: MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu, Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School in Ota.
Justice Tajudeen A. Okunsokan issued the directive after an application filed by the Attorney-General of Ogun State in suit no. AB/667/2024. The respondents include Afolabi Adeboye, Ifemosu Michael, and Lekan Soneye (for themselves and other #FearlessInOctober protesters), Bestman Okereafor (for Progressive Students Movement), Francis Adeyanju (for National Association of Nigerian Students), and Thomas Kehinde (for National Association of Ogun Students).
Other respondents are Yinka Folarin (representing the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights), Nicholas Eko (for Socialist Democratic Movement), Koyejo Morenikeji, unnamed individuals, and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police.
The order bars the protesters from gathering anywhere except at the specified venues.
The court instructed the Commissioner of Police to enforce the ruling, which is valid for seven days in line with Order 39 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2014.
