Ogun State’s Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated that the state government will keep implementing policies to reinforce the institution of Obaship.
He explained that the institution is vital because it embodies the traditions, customs, and beliefs of the people, and therefore must be held in high regard.
Onasanya made these comments during a meeting with the management team of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, who visited him to extend their greetings.
He expressed gratitude to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, for the establishment of the Oba Sikiru Adetona College of Governance, which has recently been approved by the Federal Government for affiliation with the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
Onasanya encouraged royal fathers across the state to continue collaborating with the government on groundbreaking initiatives, as exemplified by the Awujale.
“I commend the Ministry for its role in stabilizing relations between the government and the people, particularly at the grassroots level. I also appreciate your efforts in supporting the welfare and advancement of the traditional council. Please continue to uphold these responsibilities and remain dedicated to your tasks,” he said.
The HoS also encouraged ministry staff to develop policies that would foster further development at the local government level.
Earlier, in his address, Dr. Akinlesi outlined the ministry’s activities, which include mediation, project monitoring and evaluation, fostering cooperation between the state government, local government areas, and the people, as well as the welfare of its staff, with their recent inclusion in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme.
