In a significant boost to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, Ogun State officially launched the Kingdom of Netherlands-sponsored Orange Corners initiative in Abeokuta.
The event, held yesterday, marks the establishment of the second Orange Corners facility in Nigeria, dedicated to nurturing young entrepreneurs.
Hon. Abiola Odetola, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on Youth Development and Job Creation, played a pivotal role in organizing the event.
The state-of-the-art Innovation and Incubation Center, constructed by Fate Foundation, is designed to provide essential support, resources, and mentorship to young innovators, fostering an environment conducive to their growth and contribution to Ogun State’s socioeconomic development.
The launch was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Consul General of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Michel Deelen, and the Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Adebola Shofela, who represented the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON. Both officials delivered inspiring messages, emphasizing the importance of the initiative.
Out of over 700 applicants, 20 exceptional young entrepreneurs were selected through a rigorous process, showcasing the vast potential and talent within Ogun State’s youth.
The first 20 will receive between 4,000 to 40,000 euros, depending on their innovation, to support their businesses after the incubation and training at the center. Youth from Ogun State can also visit the center with ideas for incubation and hold meetings there.
Hon. Abiola Odetola, while speaking to our correspondents, expressed profound gratitude to Fate Foundation and the Kingdom of Netherlands for their support and partnership with the state government for the betterment of the youth. “This partnership highlights the global confidence in our youth and underscores our commitment to nurturing and supporting their entrepreneurial journeys,” Odetola said.
The Orange Corners Incubation Programme offers a wealth of benefits, including business incubation, training, workshops, consulting services, funding for prototype development, mentorship, industry visits, and access to a full-service business incubation space in Abeokuta.
Young entrepreneurs are encouraged to seize this opportunity to transform their innovative ideas into sustainable businesses that can drive positive change within the community.
