Following the expiration of Sikirulai Ogundele’s tenure as executive leader, the National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed a 13-member caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs in Ogun State.
In a letter dated July 28th, 2024, and signed by National Organizing Secretary Hon. Umar M. Bature, addressed to the National Vice Chairman of the South West zone, Barr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, Hon. Awoleye Dada was named as Chairman, with Barr. Paul Oladipo Ogunnubi as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, Hon. Taiwo Akinfenwa, Mr. Afolabi Orekoya, Otunba Remi Odubote, Hon. Boye Adesina, Alhaja Jemilat Alagbe, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi, Hon. Kayode Olurin, Hon. Seun Salisu, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde, and Chief Dapo Ayodele.
Bature stated that the committee’s assignment begins on July 28th and includes managing the Party’s affairs in Ogun State, as outlined in Section 21(2)(a-b) of the Party Constitution, for a period not exceeding three months or until a new Executive Committee is elected.
He instructed the South West leadership to inaugurate the committee promptly and notify the National Working Committee (NWC) accordingly.
The National Organizing Secretary also informed the Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) about the new development.
The letter reads: “We wish to inform you that the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), and following the expiration of the Party Executive Committee at levels in Ogun State, approved the underlisted as Ogun State Caretaker Committee (OGSCC):
1. Hon. Awoleye Dada (Chairman), Barr. Paul Oladipo Ogunnubi (Secretary), Alhaji Semiu Sodipo (Member), Hon. Taiwo Akinfenwa (Member), Mr. Afolabi Orekoya (Member), Otunba Remi Odubote, Hon. Boye Adesina, Alhaja Jemilat Alagbe, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi, Hon. Kayode Olurin, Hon. Seun Salisu, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde, and Chief Dapo Ayodele.”
“Accordingly, the Committee’s assignment takes effect from July 28, 2024, and is charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in Ogun State, as stipulated in Section 21(2)(a-b) of our Party Constitution, for a period not exceeding three months or until a new Executive Committee is elected.”
“You are, therefore, by this correspondence, directed to inaugurate the Committee as soon as possible. Kindly notify the NWC accordingly.”
“While thanking you for your continued support to our great Party, please accept the assurances of my highest regards.
