The Ogun State Government has allocated N200 million to assist the Borno State Government in the aftermath of the catastrophic flood that recently struck, causing significant property damage and displacing thousands of individuals.
Earlier, Governor Dapo Abiodun had conveyed messages of sympathy to the residents and administration of Borno State, praising their swift response, which included support from the federal government.
During a statement on Saturday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, announced that the donation aimed to help the flood victims and offer immediate relief.
He emphasized that the flood had triggered an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the region, making it crucial for all Nigerians to lend their support to aid those affected.
The National Emergency Management Agency reported that the flooding began when the Alau Dam overflowed due to heavy rainfall, resulting in the most severe flooding the town has faced in three decades.
Reports indicate that at least 414,000 individuals have been displaced, with 30 fatalities confirmed in the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
