The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Ogun State, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has taken a significant step in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) by launching state-wide toll-free lines.

The announcement was made during the Bi-annual State Gender-Based Violence Response Network (GBVRN) meeting, which brought together key stakeholders.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, expressed her satisfaction with the progress made in addressing GBV, particularly with the support of development partners like UNFPA.

The newly introduced toll-free lines, 0800-0000-666 and 0800-0000-555, will enable individuals to report incidents of GBV at no cost, ensuring easier access to critical resources for victims.

“These toll-free lines represent our commitment to making support readily available for victims and strengthening our efforts to combat gender-based violence,” Hon. Adeleye stated.

She further highlighted the importance of collaboration in tackling GBV and related crimes, emphasizing that the launch is a major step towards protecting vulnerable individuals in the state.

The initiative underscores Ogun State’s dedication to eradicating GBV and providing comprehensive support for victims.
