Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ogun State, held a high-level meeting with representatives from the World Bank and the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP).
The discussions centered on advancing impactful initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women and children in the state.
A key highlight was the emphasis on the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) as a vital tool for implementing the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act. Mrs. Pamela, one of the visiting officials, underscored the need for gender-sensitive policies and the sustainability of existing projects, stressing the importance of leveraging World Bank resources to drive these efforts.
The meeting also explored the potential of prioritizing grants over credit to unlock additional funding for developmental projects. Special attention was given to empowering women through employment and targeted grants, with the SARC project identified as a flagship initiative to attract broader support.
Hon. Adeleye expressed optimism about the outcomes of the engagement, noting the commendations received from the visiting team. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to fostering sustainable progress and enhancing partnerships to achieve shared goals.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure impactful results and look forward to strengthening our collaboration with development partners,” she said.
