Andrew Cole and John Terry are the newest members of the Premier League Hall of Fame, having been selected from a shortlist of 15 players through a public vote and Premier League Awards Panel. The duo join Ashley Cole in the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024, with the former England left-back earning his spot earlier this year.
Andrew Cole, the fourth-highest scorer in Premier League history with 187 goals in 414 matches (with just one being a penalty), played for several top-tier clubs, including Newcastle United, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, and Sunderland. His transfer to Manchester United in 1995 set a British record, and he played a key role in the team’s success from 1998 to 2001 alongside Dwight Yorke.
“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in football, and being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a great honor,” said Cole. “Football has its highs and lows, but I loved every minute of my career. I chose football over cricket, and looking back, I’m glad I did.”
Terry, who won five Premier League titles with Chelsea, holds records for the most clean sheets in league history (214) and the most goals by a defender (41). “I’m honored to be included in the Premier League Hall of Fame,” Terry said. “I always gave my all on the field, and this recognition makes me proud. It’s great to be inducted alongside my former team-mates and in the same year as Ashley Cole, who is a great friend and outstanding player.”
Terry added, “To captain Chelsea and achieve what we did as a team is something I’ll always cherish. The Premier League is the best league in the world, and winning it five times is an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.”
