President Bola Tinubu has clarified that he is not currently thinking about the 2027 general elections, as his priority is restructuring Nigeria’s economy to improve the lives of its citizens.
This statement was made as key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC), including former National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and governors from Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States—Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji—voiced their support for Tinubu’s potential re-election and the APC’s success in the 2027 elections.
These remarks were made during the 2024 APC South West Assembly, held on Saturday in Victoria Island, Lagos. The event, hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, who also serves as the APC’s Zonal Coordinator, brought together a large group of party leaders and stakeholders from the South-West, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, State House of Assembly members, local government officials, and top party representatives.
In the first assembly since Tinubu’s 2023 Presidential win, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi delivered a keynote address, commending the President as a “listening leader” with a firm resolve to achieve success.
Tinubu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, appealed to Nigerians for patience, emphasizing that his administration is committed to fostering meaningful progress. Other crucial topics related to the party’s ongoing growth, particularly in the South-West, were also discussed.
