Reno Omokri, a notable figure in Nigerian activism, has expressed strong criticism towards the organizers of an upcoming protest. In a statement released on his official Twitter page, Omokri stated, “I have organised protests in Nigeria and abroad and can tell you that this current planned protest is not against economic hardship, as the organisers tell you.”
He highlighted that more than half of the demands made by the protest organizers are political rather than economic. Omokri accused the organizers of being opportunists, suggesting they are using the anger of Nigerians to further their political ambitions.
Omokri further argued that the protest demands, including the scrapping of the 1999 Constitution and the release of Nnamdi Kanu, have no relation to economic issues such as hunger and hardship. He advised the protest organizers to form or join a political party to pursue their political goals instead of misleading the public.
