The Senate has resolved to meet with the Attorney General of the Federation this Thursday to address disagreements surrounding the proposed Tax Reform Bills. This decision was announced during Wednesday’s plenary session, presided over by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.
Jibrin revealed that the resolution was reached following a series of meetings held by the Senate to deliberate on the contentious aspects of the tax reforms. He further announced the establishment of a committee to facilitate discussions on the matter. The committee will be chaired by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro.
In the meantime, the Senate Committee on Finance has been directed to suspend any further legislative action on the bill pending the outcome of the meeting with the Attorney General. This move is aimed at ensuring a harmonious approach to the proposed reforms.
