As Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), turns 70, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has penned a heartfelt tribute to celebrate his mentor and constituent.
In a press release issued on October 10, 2024, Senator Salisu expressed his joy and gratitude, highlighting the remarkable contributions of Prof. Oloyede to national development.
“My joy is boundless with a heart full of immense gratitude to Allah (SWT), great delight and pride as I convey warmest felicitations of my family, associates and good people of Ogun Central Senatorial District as you join the enviable Club of the Septuagenarians on Thursday, 10th October, 2024,” Salisu wrote. “Congratulations, My Dear Egbon!”
Senator Salisu acknowledged that Prof. Oloyede’s celebration goes beyond reaching a milestone age, crediting him for his significant achievements in various roles. According to him, Oloyede’s name has become synonymous with “commitment to public good” and has earned national recognition as a beacon of hope.
“In a clime with pervasive, perverse negativity, you have become a rare breed, an oasis, and a beacon of hope that our national cup is half-full and not half-empty,” Salisu stated. “Indeed, there are still compatriots that can be counted on in our journey to national rebirth.”
Senator Salisu also highlighted the professor’s impressive track record, notably his transformative leadership at the University of Ilorin, where Oloyede served as Vice-Chancellor. He praised Oloyede’s ability to break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and set high standards, adding that JAMB has flourished under his leadership, offering valuable lessons in nation-building.
“JAMB, since your assumption of office as the Registrar, is no longer just a national institution for processing admissions into tertiary institutions; it offers profound lessons in leadership and nation-building,” Salisu noted.
On a personal note, Senator Salisu expressed pride in their shared heritage and lauded Prof. Oloyede for being a worthy ambassador of Ogun Central Senatorial District.
