The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has apprehended five suspects linked to the heinous murder of six policemen in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrest in a statement, revealing that the officers were ambushed while on a mission to investigate the disappearance and rescue of three colleagues.
He stated that while six other officers are currently missing, the NPF is preparing to honor the fallen heroes, with Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordering the immediate payment of their entitlements to their families.
The deceased officers include Inspector Abe Olubunmi (IRT), Inspector Friday Irorere (51 PMF), Sergeant Kuden Elisha (51 PMF), Sergeant Akpan Aniette (51 PMF), Sergeant Ayere Paul (IRT), and Sergeant Ejemito Friday (51 PMF).
Officers currently missing include Inspector Onoja Daniel, Inspector Onogho Felix, Inspector Emmanuel Okoroafor, Inspector Joel Hamidu, Sergeant Moses Eduvie, and Sergeant Cyril Okorie.
