The suspects, Umar Muhammad, 24, Audu Muhammad, 22, and Umar Danda, 22, are accused of abducting and killing 15-year-old Yahu Muhammad after demanding a ransom of N500,000.
A statement from the Commander, Soji Ganzallo, relayed through spokesperson Moruf Yusuf, reported the arrest in Abeokuta.
The victim was reportedly taken while tending cattle in the Akara forest area of Abeokuta North local government.
The statement details: “On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., the Imala Division of the Corps received news of a kidnapping.”
“A 15-year-old, Yahu Muhammad, was taken, with a ransom of N500,000.00 demanded, but the suspects did not release him.”
“The Special Squad from Imala was dispatched to rescue the victim unharmed.”
“However, upon reaching the kidnappers’ hideout at Olodo Karaoke, along Anigbado-Idiemi Road in Abeokuta North, it was discovered that the victim had been killed despite the ransom being paid.”
The State Commander praised the Vigilante Group for their role in capturing the third suspect, Umar Danda.
Ganzalo added that the victim’s body and the suspects have been moved to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
