President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address a joint session of the National Assembly tomorrow, opting not to make a national broadcast to mark his first anniversary in office. This special session is part of a broader program celebrating 25 years of Nigeria’s democracy since the military handed over power in 1999.
President Tinubu’s address will highlight the achievements of his administration over the past year and reflect on the progress of Nigeria’s democratic journey. The session will also feature speeches from prominent figures, including former Senate President David Mark and the current Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who previously served as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In addition, former military ruler General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s transition to civilian rule in 1999, will also speak at the event.
The ceremony will conclude with the commissioning of the new National Assembly Library and Resource Center, which will be named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building in honor of the President.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, announced these plans in a press statement today. The event is expected to be a significant milestone in celebrating the resilience and growth of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
