The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has proposed possible collaborations with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), aimed at bolstering agricultural innovations to support sustainable food production in the Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Senator Salisu, who also serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Crimes, shared his thoughts during an interactive session with the management and staff of FUNAAB in Ogun State.
He expressed a keen interest in collaborating with FUNAAB, indicating there were multiple avenues for effective partnerships. The Senator, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Road and Infrastructure, Engineer Babatunde Adesina; the Odeda Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo; and other key figures from Ogun Central Senatorial District, shared his positive impression of the university’s activities.
Senator Salisu disclosed that he is eager to partner with the university to boost food production and enhance profitability in agriculture among local farmers and other stakeholders.
Receiving the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, expressed the university’s gratitude to Senator Salisu for his interest in collaborating with FUNAAB.
He noted that with the government’s ongoing investments in road infrastructure and human capital development, it would not be long before FUNAAB emerges as a leading hub of agribusiness in Africa.
Prof. Kehinde also emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering collaborations and initiatives that will benefit young and local farmers across the Ogun Central Senatorial District.
